One key factor for optimum performance of SNCR-based deNOx systems is that the ammonia is introduced in a correct temperature window around 1220 K. Traditional temperature measurement principles using stand alone thermocouples or in a combination with gas suction devices are known to be effected by several hundred degrees by the surrounding environment. This paper demonstrates the use of CARS as a gas temperature diagnostic tool at theprosition of the ammonia injection in a full scale 80 MW PF boiler.
