Experience over the past decade has shown that, in many cases, due to technological and physical limitations, restoration of groundwater to drinking water levels at Superfund and RCRA sites is impracticable. In recognition of this fact, the United states Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has issued guidance on managing sites where technical impracticability limitations exist from an engineering perspective.
