In relation to the development of the interfacial area transport equation, this study demonstrated the basic concept of two-group interfacial area transport equations. The two-group equations with preliminary models of sink and source terms wever applied to the bubbly-to-slug flow transition. The two-group equations agreed with seven data sets taken at the bubbly-to-solug flow transition within the average relative deviation of 3.61
