OCCURRENCE OF ENTEROVIRUSES, ADENOVIRUS 40/41, ROTAVIRUSAND ASTROVIRUS IN FINISHED AND SOURCE WATER CONCENTRATESCOLLECTED DURING THE INFORMATION COLLECTION RULE USING ANINTEGRATED CELL CULTURE NESTED POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTIONTECHNIQUE

摘要

Surface waters and finished waters which were collected during the InformationCollection Rule (ICR) were evaluated for virus using the total culturable virus assay(TCVA) prescribed by the EPA and an integrated cell culture-nested polymerase chainreaction assay (ICC-nPCR) which was optimized in our laboratory. Results of the TCVAassay indicated that less than 20% of the source waters were positive for virus while nonewere detected in finish waters. Results of the ICC-nPCR indicated that almost 50% ofthe samples were positive for one type of virus and at least one finished water samplecontained virus.
