We created a high-performance parallel code for three-dimensional, unsteady, incompressible flow governed by the Navier-Stokes equations and carried out large-eddy simulations of laboratory-scale realizations of coastal upwelling in an annular rotating tank with a sloping bottom. The upwelling process and the interfacial instabilities of the rotating and stratified fluid were studied in this work.
