The Progress of PSA Technology for Hydrogen Separation and Purification

The article describes the process and features of many kinds of process for the separation and purification of hydrogen, including Cryogenic Separation, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), Membrane Separation, Pd Film Diffusion, Chemical Absorption etc, and presents a comment and a brief comparison on each method. As the representative of non-cryogenic process, the PSA process for the separation and purification of hydrogen have many advantages such as the simplicity of process and operation, low energy consumption, low investment and operation cost, high reliability and the auto-control degree, and the low pollution, etc. Recently, as the improvement of technology, it make the material gas for PSA-H_2 process becomes much more wide, and the H_2 recovery of PSA process have been improved continually (even more than 96%) , the purity of product attain 99.999%. The process of PSA-H_2 has been used widely, and the scale becomes much large. The article illustrates the craft characteristic and the successful applied cases.
