Preliminary Study on Practical Hydrogen Generation, Storage and Delivery for PEM Fuel Cell in China

This Paper deals with the economical analysis of hydrogen generation, storage and delivery in China. Total nine practical cases are discussed, i.e. using natural gas centralized H_2 generating plant , liquid H_2 car transfer and tube trailer delivery, H_2 gas pipeline delivery + CO_2 reclaim, H_2 pipeline delivery; using coke oven gas centralized H_2 generating plant, H_2 gas pipeline deliver; centralized H_2 generating plant (electrolyzer) and delivery tube trailer; On-site H_2 gas generation at FCB refueling station (Electrolyzer); using coal manufacture gas centralized H_2 generating plant, delivery H_2 gas pipeline and H_2 pipeline delivery + CO_2 sequestration. The results show that the cost of hydrogen generation, storage and delivery are strongly dependent on the row materials and electric energy cost. Thus, in order to cut down cost and CO_2 emission, it is better ways to apply 2 or more than 2 aforesaid cases in a H_2 generating plant and make comprehensive usage of various energies and gases (some of which may be used to produce chemicals). All of above methods are practical. Some new ways of hydrogen production, such as from solar energy, wind, biological, biomass, coal bed gas and so on, will be discussed in other paper.
