Environment and safety management systems: A Tool For Developing Cost-effective Cleaner Technologies and Methods

Many approaches to new cleaner technologies rely upon the substitution of materials or changes in technology to reduce their environmental impact. Significant environmental impact oftne occurs however as a result of operator misjudgement of the consequences of their actions. one often overlooked tool in achieving cleaner production and reducing the risks arising from operator misjudgement, while maintaining cost effectiveness, is the implementation and use of an effective management system.
