Liquid phase oxidation of cumene to cumene hydroperoside (CHP) by air has been experimentally investigated in three types of reactors, namely bubble column, air-life loop reactor and bubble tank. The effects of ractor type, air flow rate and operatin condition on the conversion and selectivity of cumene were studied. When the oxidation reactions were conducted in the presence of Na_2Co_3 solution which was used as a stabilizing agent, the increase of air flow rate enhanced the rate of CHP formation, and the loop reactor is a favorable type of reactor. The results showed that hte oxidation process was not only limited by chemicla rate, but also was limited by mutliphase mixing and mass-transfer between cumene and Na_2CO_3 solution.
