Cooling Cycle Expanders Improve LNG Liquefaction Process

The liquefaction process of natural gas requries a complicated system of cooling cycles; compressors, heat exchangers and expanders, all connected and controlled by pipes, valves and sensors. The gas is condensed under high pressure and then, in conventional liquefaction plants, expanded in an isenthalpic process across a Joule-Thomson valve.
