EFFECT OF PRECURSOR CHARACTERISTICS ON THE POROUS TEXTURE OF ACTIVATED CARBON FIBRES PREPARED FROM NOMEX FIBRES

ACF from Nomex are highly microporous regardless of the variety (crystalline, non-crystalline or black dyed) used as precursor. The porous texture of these ACF is closely related to the BO degree. The independence of porous texture on precursor characteristics suggests that used Nomex and/or its by-products can constitute a suitable precursor for ACF.
