摘要

The removal of many heavy metals from industrial wastewater is one of the most important environmental problems to be solved today. The retention of this contaminants by a biofilm supported on granular activated carbon is one of the promissing tecnologies for the redution of this problem, because it is cheap and it removes a broad range of substances, heavy metals and organic compounds. In this study we have two different kinds of granular activated carbon: one treated with HNO_3 and other treated with H_2O_2. Preliminary studies realized by this group showed that Artherobacter viscosus present good characteristics to be applied to a biosorption system.
