Proceeding from the assumption that in the processes of metamorphism and thermal destruction of coals similar dehydration, decarboxylation and dehydrogenation reactions occur, it is worthwhile to compare the water behaviour in these processes. The present paper is aimed at obtaining new data on coal interaction with water in the processes of metamorphism, pyrolysis and hydrogenation based on the results of theoretical calculations and the data of studying the thermodestruction products.
