Introduction to Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SANs) and their Configuration

This paper provides an introduction to Fibre Channel and Storage Area Networks (SANS) with implementation examples. Fibre Channel and SANs offer many significant benefits with a key benefit being simplified, and reduced storage management costs and activity. Fibre Channel is a new ANSI standard interface for storage applications supporting increased performance, distance, and number of devices. Fibre Channel provides the infrastructure for building Storage Area Networks to address various storage and management issues.
