Client-Server Application Modeling - A Methodology

Hitachi Data Systems has developed a methodology for modeling the performance of complex transactions, which allows impacts of potential changes to be studied. Using data collected from a network protocol analyzer, a transaction profile is built which can be used as input into a simulation model built using MIL3's OPNET product. After validation, this model can be used to test differing network configurations, application designs, or other changes. Use of this model identified serious problems before an outsourced data center migration was completed.
