In order+ to stabilize the sinter chemical composition, improve the sintering permeability, control the burn through point (BTP), and steady the sintering process, the expert system for controlling sintering process is studied. In this paper, the control strategies of sinter chemical composition control centered on basicity, sintering process state control centered on permeability, interval optimization and predictions of sinter chemical composition and BTP are investigated. The general structure of expert system for controlling the sintering process is researched, which consists of knowledge base, inference engine, learning system, explanaion system, knowledge base management system, data acquisition syste, chemical composition prediction syste, chemical composition and process state control system. The software of system, which includes about 1000 expert rules, has been successfully applied to the off-line control of sintering process.
