This paper presents the blind prediction of the structural response of Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP) WWER-1000 MW Reactor Building to blast input motion. A three-dimensional structural model developed for seismic response analyses of WWER-1000 MW Reactor Building was used. The structure was assumed surface founded at the basemat level. Blast response soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses were carried out considering three cases of shear wave propagation pattern for the blast input motion. The in-structure time histories and response spectra were generated at the blast-response recording locations. The conclusions are drawn for the reliability of the structural response prediction due to blast excitation when classical approaches of SSI seismic response techniques are used.
