The development of a well balanced and practicable strategy for designing, maintaining and repariing a power station is essential for a high reliability, availability and thus safety. The simulation of all influencing factors in one mathematical model by RAM (Reliability-Availability-Maintainability) Analysis requires an integral approach including technology, organization, human activity and operational experience. thus it is possible to quantitatively assess the influence of indivity and operational experience. Thus it is possible to quantitatively assess the influence of individual components on availability, safety and on-going costs. RAM Analysis allows the assessment of design proposals before planning or repairing a plant and it helps to optimize maintenance or storage concepts like for e.g. important strategic replacement parts.
