In recent years attention has been focused in Italy on risk prevention and safety evaluation of architectural heritage, mainly due to collapses happened under normal life or earthquake conditions. In fact the largest part of the failures concerned brick or stone masonry tall buildings containing large non-homogeneity such as rubble material composite walls, either non-reinforced openings, or mixtures of materials with different properties.
