The effect of process variables(die shoulder radius r_d and friction coefficient #mu#) in variable blank holder force(BHF) control of the circular cup deep drawing on limit drawing ratio(LDR) has been studied for aluminum alloy sheet. A new parameter, BHF_(const)./triangle openDR, was introduced as a measure indicating the effect of variable BHF control. In case of aluminum alloy sheet (A5182-O), it is demonstrated from the theoretical analysis that the process parameters(r_d and #mu#) have few effect on the LDR of variable BHF control than material properties.
