摘要

FE simulations are widely used in forging industry for confirming and improving process and tool design, as well as for various trouble-shooting. Elimination of crack defects, which occur in forged parts with excessive deformation, often requires multiple number of trial & error processes. This paper suggests a practical approach with actual examples which can be used to eliminate crack defects of cold forged parts by using FE simulations. Major points of the approach are i) to determine critical damage value of a certain billet material by FE simulation of an actual forged part with crack defects, and ii) to use the obtained critical damage value for eliminating crack defects.
