Multi-agent approach has been advanced as a normative tool for designing medical assistance systems. In this paper, we argue that this design is appropriate for these systems. In our work, we are developing knowledge representation and multi-agent reasoning methodologies for systems that support users control and cooperation. This article describes the design of an artificial agent system for cooperative work aided applications in general, and for hospital patient medical assistance and organizing medical staff in particular. The key aspect of our software agent model are the following. Our agent model encapsulates several agents in the same structure. This recursive architecture presents several advantages: parallelisation of agent tasks, reuse of agent components and partial mobility and cloning of agent code.
