Designing Medical Knowledge-based System from Patterns

This work takes place in the context of a decision making project in inflammatory rheumatology. We have performed an Object. Oriented analysis which gives us a preliminary approach of the abstract model to test initial choices of design. A major problem during this Object Oriented analysis is to identify the "good" objects. The use of patterns brings a more generic point of view and in the same time further oriented towards the solutions. Patterns give an assistance to refine existing objects and to discover new ones. This paper presents two patterns included in our final model: Iterator to perform a generic task encountered in diagnosis making systems and Composite to manage signs and syndroms belonging to the patient and disease descriptions.
