Situations with high levels of congestion are increasingly frequent in urban and metropolitan areas. The effects of different contorl strategies, demand management and infrastructural schemes can be studied with accuracy only with wihtin-day dynamic modelling of traffic assignment explicitly taking into account peaks and oversaturated conditions.
