The purpose of this paper is to identify technology needs for analysis tools and methods for designing Floating Production Systems in depths to 10,000 feet. The authors and their colleagues specifically addressed analysis tools and experimental methods needed to establish design values for surface vessel motions and dynamics, riser motions and loads, mooring systems and loads, and the coupled response of the vessel, riser, sand moorings for deepwater Floating Production System. The identified technology needs were prioritized, and suggested approaches to achieve the desired results are presented.
