Riser mooring research activities within the norwegian deepwater program

This paper summarises the content and progress of the NDP Riser & Mooring project, and its current plans for further research activities. The Norwegian Deepwater program was initiated in 1996 as a four year R&D program, funded by the operators and participants who were awarded deepwater licences in the Norwegian 15th round. The objective of NDP is co-operation between the deep water licences in Norway to enable cost-effective preparation for safe and efficient drilling and field development. Additional objectives were to develop new working relationship between participants, to avoid duplication of work, and to reduce strain on a busy contractor industry.
