A Systems Approach to Rod and Bar Processing

There have been significant changes in the production of long products, such as rod and bar over the past two decades. In heavily industrialised countries there are now relatively few integrated steelworks involved in the manufacture of these products, with the major tonnage produced by minimills. It is interesting to note that similar issues are now confronting the flat products area with the advent of alternative processing routes such as thin slab and strip casting.
