The presented paper describes a numerical procedure to analyze structures of arbitrary geometry on the surface of a layered soil with constant stiffness and damping in each layer. The mixed boundary value problem is solved numerically using influence-functions for the layered soil. The soil-structure interaction is realized by a discrete weighted residual technique formulated in the frequency domain. Examples are given for two structures under seimsic excitation and for a system of railway ties exposed to harmonic excitation.
