An application of a large-scale Hybrid Mass Damper (HMD) toa slender 20 story board-shaped building with a height of 93m and cross section of 130x21m,is discussed.As the objective building is used as college school,special attention is paid to realizing better habiltability against both strong wind and earthquake.In order to reduce the response under above loading.two sets of HMD are installed at the top floor of the building.The greater the scale of the building,the bigger the necessary size of HMD.At this point,various practical and economical problems in the design of HMD could arise in the scaling up of the mass damper.In this paper,through an application of HMDs to the objective building,above mentioned problems are practically solved.Also the performance o the designed HMDs is verified through various vibration tests and field observation under strong wind and wead earthquake.
