Risk informed ist: out of the long tunnel of development and into the warm sunlight of implementation

The long tunnel of development started in 1993 with an initiative by the ASME O&M Committee to have a RI-ISI presentation.Committee members thought this was a great concept to use probabilistic risk assessment vice subjective risk assessment to decide what IST components were important.The long tunnel of development ended in 1998 with the issuance of the ASME OMN-3 Code Case,NRC Regulatory Guide 1.175,and the Comanche Peak SER for their RI-IST pilot application.
