The effects of dynamic strain aging (DSA) on the rotating fatigue strength of 18-8 stainless steel were investigated at ambient temperature (298K) and at 873K, respectively. The various DSA pretreatment processes were carried out at 573-873K with 5~30% prestrains. The results show that DSA pretreatment increases more effectively the room and high temperature fatigue strength of stainless steel than that of by cold-working pretreatment. The fatigue strength rises with increasing the prestrain and pretreatment temperature of DSA. The strengthening effects resulted from DSA can be reasonably explained by means of microstructure observation.
