摘要

A microbial potentiometric biosensor for the detection of urea is presented. The system is based on a silicon transducer sensitive to pH and detects the rate of alkalinization of the measuring solutions due to the hydrolysis of urea by the ureasic activity of Proteus vulgaris. The presence of urea can be easily revealed in the concentration range of 0.1-100 mM. An application is proposed to utilize an automated system for the preliminary screening of body fluid samples.
