To analyze the unsteady compressible viscous flows, the two-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved on unstructured dynamic meshes. The mixed finite volume/finite element formulations are used to solve the Navier-Stokes equations. In order to account for the motion of the ocmputational mesh points, the ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) formulation mesh points, the ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) formulation is adopted to the flow solver. In this paper, a new method to construct the unstructured dynamic viscous grids is described. Applying our numerical simulation procedure to two typical unsteady flow problems: transonic flows around oscillating airfoils, and the phenomenon of the transonic control surface buzz, it is shown that this procedure can be successfully used to simulate the unsteady flow problems.
