摘要

Shortly follwing injury, fibroblastic cells betgin to invade the provisional fibrin matrix in order to begin the process of repairing the injured tissue. Fibroblast repopulation of the wound site occurs via the processes of migration and proliferation (Clark 1996). Additionally, fibroblasts appear to drive the process of wound contracion by exerting traction on the wound matrix (Grinnell 1994). By attempting to elucidate the features of the wound environment which regulate the processes of fibroblast migration, proliferation, and traction, we can gain insight into the role of the fibrobalst in determining the outcome of the wound healing response.
