Mechanical stress can regulate the growth of a living tissue, change its shape, modify its chemical and cellular structures, and alter its mechanical properties. Stresses and strains in tissue also play a significant role in healing and rehabilitation. Applying biomechanics can further understand and improve medical procedures, which ultimately enhance healing and prevent detrimental side effects.
