摘要

Melting experiments were performed on a Japan Steel Works Labtex 30 twin screw extruder. The distribution of the polymer in different screw configurations was studied using 'screw pull out' experiments. Subsequently polymer carcasses were stripped and melting lengths were recorded . A model for melting in a starved composite modular co-rotating twin screw extruder, consisting of screw and kneading disc block elements, is then described. Comparisons are made to experimental results.
