The utilisation of an expert system in minimising flue gas emissions in a full-scale bfb boiler

An expert system was designed to assist in the reduction of flue gas emissions and to stabilise the combustion conditions in a bubbling fluidised bed boiler. The system is used to give advice to the power plant opertors to minimise NO_x-, SO_2- and CO-emissions. The outputs of the system are operational instructions, explanations and comments. NO_2- and CO-models were included to the system to predict emissions in the power plants where the emissions are not measured.
