The present study is concerned with an oil-source rock correlation involving thirty rock samples and three oils from Ghadames-El Borma basin. From the bulk data of source rocks, there are some excellent Devonian to good Silurian source rocks in the study area. Based on biological marker investigation using capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS), Devonian and Silurian source extracts appear to have some similar characteristics, although, tricyclic to hopane ratio indicate that these intervals can be distinguished. Furthermore, these data reveal two groups of oils: (ⅰ) KA-2, ELB-9; (ⅱ) ROM-1. Both groups of oils were probably derived from source rocks of marine input and depositional environment. Oils ELB-9 and KA-2 may be derived from Devonian and ROM-1 from Silurian source rocks. Based on maturity parameters, all these oils are mature but ROM-1 was probably generated at higher maturity level than the other two oils.
