The method of MIOR-the nutritious flooding-was developed previously under laboratory conditions for the Vyngapour oil field with regard to petro-physical characteristic and the local food industry waste and then applied on the pilot area in West Siberia in 1993. The proposed method is based on the introduction of some nutrients for microorganisms and microorganisms present in the local food industry waste into the formation, as well as activation of the metabolic processes in the indigenous bacteria.Laboratory investigations showed that the periodical supply of small amounts of the nutritious composition into the experimental vessel resulted in more efficient production of oil-displacing metabolites by microorganisms: CO_2, alcohols, fatty acids and surfactants. Application of the nutritious flooding to formation sand models gave 7-19% model residual oil additionally.This method was used on the pilot area of the Vyngapour oil field as it approached the economic limit. Application of MIOR allowed us to obtain 2268.6 tons of oil over the baseline and to reduce the level of water-cut oil production by 3-4%.
