The Practical Implications of Using Quantitative Importance Measures to Gulde Risk Based Decision Making Processes

Users of Probabilistic Safety Assessments (PSA) routinely apply predefined quantitative importance measures in the prioritization of systems, structures and components (SSCs) to support plant activities. This paper describes how these importance measures, typically provided within the set of Level 1 and evel 2 PSA results, can be interpreted and used to guide the decision making process.
