In spite of great enhancement in the reliability of large complex technological systems, the frequent occurrence of accidents in these systems in the last few decades indicates that the traditional "error prevention" strategy is not a complete remedy for human error. This calls for innovative design strategies such as "error tolerance". Error tolerance concept has emerged in the last decade as a complementary means of remedy of human error in large complex tightly-coupled technological systems [1]. In this concept the main emphasis is on confinement of the "consequences" of error, instead of elimination of its "occurrences". The notion supports timely recovery of the errors by the operator and is based primarily on dynamic defintion of human error. The error tolerant designed interface systems provide more visibility of the plant's internal changes. These systems are particularly important in difficult unexpected situations where the operators deteriorated performance may lead to irreversible hazardous processes in the Plant. The analytic studies confirm the considerable improvement of human reliability through integration of error tolerance features into the traditional interface systems.
