Satellite altimetric data (TOPEX/POSEIDON) are used to estimate characteristics on the atmospheric and oceanic correction factors, the mean sea level and the sea level variabilities in the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the East Sea from September 1992 through August 1994. For the atmospheric correction factors, the variations of dry troposphere, humid troposphere, ionospere and inverted barometer wave very small as a few centimeters, but the variations of electomagnetic bias (about 10cm in 2 ground tracks) were higher than other factors. For the oceanic correction factors, the variations of ocean tide (35cm in ground track 127 and 60cm in ground track 214) showed high ranged compared to elastic tide (5cm in ground track 127 and 1 cm in ground track 214) and loading tide (1.8cm in ground track 127 and 1 cm in ground track 214). Mean sea level in the Yellow Sea are higher than the rest of seas. Then, its range generally comprised between -60cm and 210cm with the mean value of about 100cm. Also its variabilities showed high values, especially 5.7cm at Yongampo coast, in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea. These results are basically due to the effects of local topography and strong tides.
