Laboratory tests for materials polluted by lead

Ammonium Acetate was used as leaching agent to remove lead from artificially polluted ornamental stone (Travertine), that is the buliding material of most monuments in Rome. These are daily subjected to pollution by the automotive traffic. The efficiency of ammonium acetate in lead-removal was firstly compared with oxalic acid and OC_2sturated water and then studied as a function of the temperature, concentration and flow rate.
