The past ten years have ushered in the era of electric steel making and the next ten years will record its dominance in terms of tons of steel produced. There are many factors which have contributed. But in the final analysis, our advances have been fueled by the willingness of a few steel makers to pioneer with new technologies. Man of those companies who were willing, or able, to take the lead have been rewarded with increased market shares and profits.
