Development of compact emergency shutoff valve units

To prevent secondary disaster caused by a severe earthquake,and to ensure early restoration of as supply.Toho gas CO., Ltd.has been promoting gas pipeline network segmentation into many blocks,and developing a system that,twhen necessary,can shut off gas supply instantaneously.Working With Taimei Metal Co.,Ltd toho Gas has jointly developed a compact emergency shutoff valve unit for installation in each block boundary and at gas pipeline network supply sources.When an earthquake occurs.this unit closes the valves promptly,eikther via manual remote control or automaticlally as it senses the earthquake,thereby completely isolating the block from adjacent blocks.This valve unit's installation space requiremetn is less than half that of the conventional valve,enabling substantial reduction of installaiton construction cost.
