Les nouveaux types de stockage de gaz en cavites sourterraines

From its beginning (1961),the technology for natural gas storage in underground caverns has undergone constant progress.Until the eighties,it has essentially benefited from devleopments in geotechics and in computer sciences.Today,the real challenges behind ongoing research are the deregulation fo the naturla gas market and the need to adapt the technology to new and more difficult economical and geological situations.by indicating the trends of current research,the authors highlight the extent o the innovation effort directed towards delivering peak storages when and where it is needed.From more voluminous salt caverns with new geometries opeated over larger pressure ranges,to innovative techniques for oeprating earlier and new concepts of cavern storage in other rocks than salt,the paper shows how all is contributing to promote the competitivity of naturla gas on the market.
