摘要

This paper presents an experimental investigation of the scale effects on fracture propagation using brittle rock-type material.Concrete specimens scaled in size a factor of 16 are used,with a range of aggregate sizes so that complete geometrical and textural scaling is provided.Fracture behavior is observed in splitting tests on edge notched specimens.based on experimental data and numerical analysis,the stress intensity factor and energy release rate,K_IC and G_IC, are obtained at the onset and in the ocourse of crack growht.
