Long term variation of the atmospheric sulfur budget over Hungary

The atmospheric sulfur budgets over Hungary for the period of 1980-1996 are investigated in the paper using simple mass balance equations. Regional background concentration measurements carried out at the Hungarian EMEP/GAW Station K-puszta were applied as input parameters for the equations. The monitoring site is located in the central part of the conutry. On the basis of our estimations conclusions can be drawn on the role of Hungary in the European sulfur balance. Results are compared with the outputs of European scale source-receptor type model calculations.
