Processing and Dissemination of GEOSAT Follow-on (GFO) Altimeter Data

The US Navy GEOSAT Follow-On(GFO) altimeter was launched into space aboard a Taurus launch vehicle 10 February 1998. GFO will build on the data set collected by GEOSAT during the period from March 1985 until the satellite failed in 1989. GFO will also provide a third altimeter in orbit. The additional altimeter will provide data in areas complementary to the US/French TOPEX altimeter and the European ERS-2 altimeter.
