摘要

The reason for high pH values (a basic solution) in liquid phase in steam used for thermal oil recovery, has been analyzed. The study shows that the high pH value will essentially cause the following three problems: 1. Caustic embrittlement of insulated tubing which leads to the reduction of insulating effect. 2. Sand control liner failure resulting in sand production and influencing normal oil production. 3. Dissolving SiO_2 from reservoir rocks, thus decreasing reservoir permeability. Each problem causes damage.
